THE PUPPET MASTER - OUT ON 28TH AUGUST!
As I headed into Cannaregio from the Canal, I experienced for a second time on the trip here something approaching a real sense of pilgrimage. The walk that Malin makes to find this place in the dawn of a cold March morning seems all that much more impressive, having criss-crossed the island with Joanne for almost a week.
The street on which the house sits is a main thoroughfare for this part of the city, connecting the west end of the island to the more cluttered San Marco in the east.
While the bedroom behind its balcony may or may not be the exact location where Malin takes up his position over the period, I had a very strong feeling that it was. For me, it's a done deal.
From here, on the corner of the Campo, it is easy to observe the passing of foot traffic around the edge of Chiesa San Leonardo, skirting around the near-mandatory fresh water well positioned just outside the main church doors.
